Full Job Description

The senior firmware engineer designs and implements firmware applications in C using applicable coding standards. In addition, he/she will analyze existing code to locate defects, determine their cause, and implement solutions.

The senior firmware engineer will be expected to function well in a team environment, but also be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.

Interaction with Product Validation on a daily basis is expected. The senior firmware engineer is expected to review test plans to ensure complete functional coverage, enable an automation strategy, and provide technical assistance.

Interaction on a daily or weekly basis with other functional groups, such as manufacturing and marketing, is expected. In addition, the senior firmware engineer will provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers, and “lead by example” with respect to quality and schedule awareness.

• Experience in the design of cellular terminal firmware based on wireless modules (Wavecom, Sierra or Siemens) is a plus.
• Experience developing ZigBee-based wireless devices will be very beneficial.
• Experience leading and/or working with outsourced engineering groups is a plus.
• Experience in the machine-to-machine (M2M) industry will be beneficial.
• The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required.
• 5+ years experience with real-time embedded software/firmware design using C is required.
• 3-5 years experience in the wireless industry (GSM or CDMA) is required.
