*      Architected and built ASP.NET application to assist external clients and customers in the inquiry of claims and authorization data. This application utilizes n-tier components to access the relevant data stored on SQL Server databases.

*      Designing new Medical Authorization system to replace existing application; this system will use similar design patterns implemented within the existing claims system.

 

Northeast Utilities, Inc. (Select Energy) Berlin, CT

Consultant – 11/04 to 6/05

*      Developed and implemented VB.NET, C# n-tier Pricing Model application. The application replaced an existing critical path process, enabling the engineering staff to price energy request in minutes versus hours. Introduced a work flow process to better manage the request for energy.

*      Implemented various services/components to insure a scalable and robust system. Designed services to enable client to easily move from a desktop to web client.

*      Developed common tools to be used within IT area to improve development time. These tools were built using C# ; includes a data readers component, Active Directory security component, configuration component, XML Transform component and a WinApp deployment application.

*      Trained staff on the use of various programming techniques specifically the use of Reflections, Remoting, and interface programming techniques that the .NET framework offers.

*      Developed VB.NET n-tier application that receives XML files from the NCAA for college football and inserts this information into Oracle 9i tables. This process required the development of an XSD file to insure the integrity of the XML files. Once validated, the XML is serialized into VB.NET objects that are consistent with the statistical information received and then inserted/updated into Oracle 9i tables.

*      Implemented ASP.NET monitoring tool to enable support areas to view the status of data feeds received from the major league sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL). This process uses a windows service to identify issues and send notifications to the appropriate individuals.

Software Engineer/Director of Information Systems - 10/03 to 07/04

*      Responsible for the design, architect, development, testing, deployment and support of software applications developed using Microsoft Development Tools.

*      Assisted in the design and initial build of Data Warehouse. A SQL Server database was designed to help managers make strategic decisions about areas of business.

*      Implemented n-tier claims processing application using VB.Net and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The application was developed using remoteable server objects and a rule processing technique that uses reflection methods. The system transforms EOBS and bulk checks to PDF formats using XML, XSLT, and XSL-FO. This application has increased adjudication rates from 65% to 87%, improved the turnaround time from 13 business days to hours, and reduced claims staff by 50% allowing management to redeploy staff within the company.

*      Developed VB.NET application to receive and process various EDI transactions (837, 271, 274, 835, 278).

*      Assisted in the development of T-SQL migration routines to extract historical claims data from commercial claims processing system to a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database.

*      Designed and architected numerous Microsoft SQL Server 2000 databases to support the application needs and to insure that the appropriate information is gathered through data input and or loads from client data.

*      Developed case management system using Microsoft VB 6.0 and SQL Server 2000 that allowed 70+ users to review and process request for healthcare authorizations.

*      Architected and deployed rule processing application using Microsoft VB 6.0 to assist the claims department in the adjudication of claims within a commercial claims system(ECI)

*      Implemented medical data gathering application to assist in the management of medical results for an Auto Claims processing client using Visual Basic 5.0 and SQL Server 7.0. This application was converted to Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0

Client: Northeast Utilities

*      Responsible for the development and implementation of a Customer Service request system using Microsoft VB 4.0-5.0 and Sybase. This system was designed to capture Customer request through various communication vehicles. Responsibilities include the management and training of eight developers.

 

Client: Ensign Bickford

*      Technical Lead during the development of an Engineering Application which required three dimensional displays of precise data. The application was developed using Microsoft VB 4.0 and Microsoft Access. Responsibilities included the design, training, graphical output and reporting.

 

Client: Northeast Utilities

*      Developed a client server application utilizing Microsoft VB 4.0, GUPTA SQLWindows, SYBASE, and UNIX. The application ensures accurately maintained contractual schedules. These schedules are used to generate transactions based on the sale and/or purchase of energy.

*      Using Microsoft VB 4.0, development a tool that displays all associated stored procedures, tables, users, and table constraints associated with a SYBASE Database. This tool can be interchanged with other databases.

Client: Southern New England Telephone

*      Designed and developed a Graphical User Interface Pricing tool utilizing Microsoft VB 3.0 and Microsoft Access 2.0. The system uses OLE Automation with Microsoft Excel 5.0 to produce customer billing and management reports.

Client: Complete Business Soultions Inc

*      Implemented an internal application to maintain all associate hours and projects using Microsoft VB 3.0 and Microsoft Access 2.0. The system provides the account managers the ability to maintain numerous projects, hours and rates of approximately 400 associates.

Installment Finance Division - Officer/Business Systems Liaison

*      Completed a business re-engineering project which utilized Microsoft Access 2.0 and Microsoft Word 6.0 to produce legal documents for Consumer Banking. Legal documents were systematically produced based on formulas within the system.

*      Manager of five(5) employees of which supported the system maintenance, development and reporting requirements of the Installment Finance Division utilizing Microsoft Office software and main-frame applications.

*      Instructed and trained staff in the development of PC database tracking systems using Microsoft VB, Microsoft Access, Microsoft FoxPro, and Borland dBASE IV. Developed numerous extracting routines utilizing IBI Focus and EasyTrieve Plus to support the reporting needs associated with the Advanced Consumer Loan Accounting System (ACLS), Advanced Consumer Application Processing System (ACAPS), and the Collection Management System (CMS).

*      Supported a UNIX based fax server which faxed approximately 600 documents per day prompted from user requests through a Main-Frame CICS application.
