WORK EXPERIENCE

2000 – Present, Web Application Developer

Darnall Army Community Hospital, Fort Hood, TX

Using VB.Net, ASP.Net and SQL Server 2000, Developed the Referral Management Web Application that helps a staff of 15 Nurses track and monitor $100 Million worth of Medical referrals. A percentage of these referrals are steered back into the hospital, thus potentially saving millions of dollars per year. Darnall is the only Medical Treatment Facility in the Great Plains Region that electronically monitors its referrals. I developed a web-based electronic medical record system using ASP, VB-Script, and SQL Server 2000 which tracked 40+ vaccinations and many other medical readiness factors. With one report from our system commanders could assess the readiness state of all soldiers on Fort Hood for deployments, thus saving thousands of man hours examining individual soldier’s medical records. Automated many manual processes within the hospital which has saved thousands of man hours, thus making the hospital more efficient. Web-enabled various medical forms using HTML 4, ASP, ADO and VB Script. Administered NT 4 and WIN2K Advanced, SQL 7/2000 and IIS Servers.

1998 – 2000, Victina Systems International, Austin, TX

Consulting Programmer/Analyst

I created an enterprise database application using Microsoft Access 2000 and Visual Basic 6 for a non-profit publisher of psychology journals. This application was built in 4 weeks and managed thousands of subscribers, authors, and manuscripts. Tens of forms, queries, and reports were created. Visual Basic 6 programs were written and called from within the Access VBA code. All facets of the organization were managed from within the program, thus saving time and money. This application was on time and under budget.

1997 - 1998, CTA, Inc., Austin, TX

Programmer/Analyst

Scanned, analyzed and converted legacy COBOL/DB2 mainframe computer programs on the IBM MVS Mainframe platform.  Wrote and executed test plans using IBM JCL to verify the validity of the code and data format changes.  I created a tool to analyze legacy mainframe COBOL programs for Y2K vulnerabilities and utilized ROSCOE, SPUFI, TSO, ISPF, and JCL on an IBM MVS mainframe platform to meet strict timelines and budget constraints.

1996 – 1997, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Austin, TX

Programmer II

Coded CICS COBOL DB2 programs for new development and wrote dynamic JCL Procedures to receive data transmissions from 255 County Probation Offices and from DPS headquarters. Redesigned CICS input screens to increase the workflow of clerks entering data, thus saving many man hours in data input tasks. Managed all stages in the development lifecycle including: requirements gathering, analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation.  I used ROSCOE, SPUFI, TSO, ISPF, and JCL on an IBM MVS mainframe platform to achieve strict timelines.

1993 – 1996, Texas Department of Transportation, Austin, TX

Programmer/Analyst

Managed all stages in the development lifecycle including: needs assessment, requirements gathering, analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation.  I maintained numerous applications written in Natural2 ADABAS, and also developed the Highway Condition Report system using Natural2/ADABAS which allowed near real time entry of statewide road conditions. This system was used by the Division of Emergency Management to monitor hazardous conditions throughout the state of Texas. I used COBOL and SAS to support clients within the organization. I am a quick learner and was able to move quickly between projects and helped many teams in support of various mainframe applications.  I used ROSCOE, TSO, ISPF, and JCL on an IBM MVS mainframe platform.
