BACKGROUND

 

Over 17 years of management experience in the manufacturing and distribution environment as a ERP Consultant. John has had direct oversight for manufacturing, materials, and warehousing operations, with responsibility for forecasting, production planning, master scheduling, procurement and quality management. John has implemented information systems to support these functions, and has reengineered manufacturing and warehousing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction. His industry background includes consumer electronics, bio-technology, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, automotive, and food & beverage. Since 1995, he has consulted on multiple ERP implementations and manufacturing / operations process improvement programs including Big 4 projects. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

Columbia Technical Consulting, Inc.                                                         Sr. Consultant/Project Manager - 2001 to Present

From May 2001 to November 2001, he was the Lead Consultant for a JDE OneWorld XE implementation for a manufacturer of seismic equipment consisting of three sites in Houston Texas. From December 2001 to March 2002, he is credited for successfully implementing an ERP system for a multi-site auto parts manufacturing company, bringing it to successful Go Live. The nation’s largest seafood company selected John to replace Big 4 consultants to implement and train on JDE Manufacturing and Distribution. For a major manufacturer and distributor of software games, he assisted in the design, system setups, testing, documentation, and training of JDE Adv. Warehouse. He was also selected by the world’s largest land development company to develop a unique customer/organization relationship application to their system address book.   For a major pharmaceutical company, he developed a comprehensive ‘proof of concept’ JDE ERP manufacturing and distribution system setups.. He consulted a major health care products company with their preparation to go live on an ERP system. This included project assessment, configuration setups re-design, testing, test script development, development of training documentation, and user training.  He completed a 12 month ERP manufacturing implementation for Dole Foods. John was Project Manager for Panasonic’s JD Edward’s re-implementation, financials, distribution and manufacturing. He implemented JD Edwards manufacturing module for a nursery company in LA.. He completed a multi-site ERP manufacturing implementation for IVAX Pharmaceutical. John was selected to consult and project manage an ERP manufacturing and distribution applications for Berringer Wine. John assisted Pharmavite with their ERP upgrade providing consulting and support for manufacturing and warehouse applications. Most recently John assisted Zetec with the implementation of IFS ERP system for manufacturing and distribution. IFS modules which John provided support include: Shop Floor Management, MRP/MPS, Forecasting, Cost Accounting, Inventory Management, Warehouse, and Procurement.

 

FutureNext Consulting, Inc.                                                   JD Edwards Practice Manager (Western Region) - 1999 to 2001

FutureNext Consulting, Inc. (Mid Market e-Solutions Consulting Firm)  - From November 1999 to March 2000. John was a Consulting Manager for FutureNext overseeing and mentoring the manufacturing and distribution consulting group. From February 1999 to September 2000, he was also responsible for the project management of a JDE OneWorld  implementation for a promotional/marketing merchandise distribution company. John’s responsibilities as a Consulting Manager included; northwest region business development, proposal development, project estimates/planning, development and training of methodology, development of documentation standards and resource planning.

 


The Hunter Group                                                                                                                                      Sr. Consultant  - 1997 to 1999

The Hunter Group. (Mid Market Systems Consulting Firm)   - From July 1997 to June 1999, John was a Sr. Consultant for The Hunter Group’s JD Edwards ERP Practice. His responsibilities included consulting on JD Edwards for a start-up telecommunications company which designs and manufactures products for wireless communication networks.

 

Matsushita/Panasonic - From 1994 to 1997 John was the Operations Manager for the Panasonic CD-ROM division. In coordination with Japanese engineering management, he was responsible for the development and management of the division reporting to Japan. He directed and monitored the successful start up of the Panasonic CD-ROM operation in 120 days, including the passing of the first UL inspection. Under his guidance, it was the most profitable regional division in 1995-1996. His responsibilities included supply chain management, production management, materials, distribution, and customer service. He served as a liaison between Japanese and American departments for OEM and customer relations which included; Apple, RCA/Tompson, Quasar and Radio Shack. He was also charged with improving the performance of Panasonic’s $220 million television division and customer service operations. John project managed the implementation of JD Edwards manufacturing and distribution applications. He also assisted with the implementation of a bar code system, throughout operations to point of shipment. He initiated process and technology changes to facilities in Indonesia that improved shipment times and communications. Initiated and facilitated Total Quality Management and ISO 9002 reporting to the president. He also increased the revenue and quality of service in the television division by reengineering processes and developing a continuous improvement program. He further reengineered the spare parts operation, which resulted in the centralization and consolidation of warehouse operations. He implemented an MRP system, and initiated procedural changes that resulted in significant cost savings by reducing inventory and obsolete parts, and freeing warehouse space.

 

SpaceLabs- From 1991 to 1994, as Master Planner, John’s responsibilities included the management of production and materials for all four divisions. He had a $100 million budget and managed $18 million in inventories. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, John was responsible for master scheduling, corporate forecasting and trend analysis. He improved profits by developing a forecasting system, and improved the master schedule and MRP system, resulting in an 81% reduction in stockouts. He centralized the planning operations of all divisions, and introduced a JIT system.

 

Gretag Systems/Ciba-Geigy – From 1988 to 1991, Senior Production Planner.  For a start-up subsidiary of Ciba-Geigy, a manufacturer of photo processing equipment, John developed and supervised the master schedule, production planning, and inventory control functions. He led a team in TQM programs, resulting in the application of JIT concepts to manufacturing and materials, along with a unique application to administration. He initiated a backflush system to manufacturing that reduced work order releases and maintenance by 85%.

 

Data I/O Corporation  - From 1984 to 1988, Production Planner. Responsible for master scheduling, capacity planning and new product planning for two manufacturing sites.
